Safety Centre
This page contains links and information related to curling club safety.
Keeping our members and staff safe is important to the Board of Directors, so in the spring of 2020 we formed a Safety Committee. This committee was initially asked to bring our curling club into compliance with the Ontario government’s new concussion awareness protocols (Rowan’s Law). Their mission now is to promote awareness and education on all aspects of curling safety.
Emergency procedures
First Aid kits
Our Club has four first aid kits, located at the three Safety Centres and on a wall in the kitchen. The Safety Committee monitors and re-equips them on a regular basis.
Defibrillator (AED kits)
In case of suspected heart attack, access the Zoll Plus AED kits located at the Safety Centre in the ice level landing of the West Staircase. Please familiarize yourself with how to use this device. Here are two resources to view:
Incident reporting
If a curler sustains an injury while at the club, on or off the ice, we ask the League Convenor or their designate to complete an incident report. You’ll find it in a binder at the bar.
Concussion awareness (Rowan’s law)
When you register to curl each year, we ask you to review the Concussion Awareness Resource and Code of Conduct. You can find these documents in the Membership section of this website.
